Taking My Time Off From Blogging

I lost appetite to blog although I've got so many things to write about: the coming general election, American Idol, Manchester United matches which I lag behind, my passions on good food and everything that revolve around me.

This week didn’t start out on the best note for me and the passing days seems to weaken my spirit. I'm on the verge of breaking down. I am down but I still hanging on, trying to keep myself in the bright light...physically, mentally and emotionally. Thankfully I have such great family and few good friends around to make my life less misserable. I know there are others out there struggling with themselves and their lives more than I do, but right now at this moment of time I feel like I'm useless in a way that I can't make sense of the life I'm living.

I've decided to take time off from the blogging world to collect my thoughts. Blogging has become part of my life and the place I feel comfortable to be in these days besides Jusco Maluri. I come to term with the fact that cyber space is just a reflection of reality and I've been dedicating too much of my time inside it...and little by little it has taken my sanity away and built my ignorance towards the so called "real world".

Ghee I'm lost in my words...so I better stop now before I completely write junkies...I'll be back...

Signing off...Thanks for your support in reading this blog. Appreciate it :)

Weekend's Food Images

Been a while since I posted home-made food photos. So here's some of it that I managed to snapped:

Mushrooms soup(left) and Fishbballs Soup (right)

Savoury Fish(left) and Spicy Prawns(right)

Cucur/ Cekodok Ikan Bilis or Anchovies Fritter

My mom made this dish on saturday evening for tea time.

Buncis tumis Tempe & Masak Lemak Cili Padi Kobis Masin (Dunno how to translate hehehe)

Popiah Udang / Prawn Spring Rolls

My favourite dish...i always made my very own popiah for guaranteed satisfaction. I like it full filling (made of carrots, sweet turnip or sengkuang, mushroom, bean sprouts, potato and prawn). I surely will not find all these ingredients together in a bought popiah so had to make the popiah myself liao...

There are some more photos but I think these will be enough for this week...

My New Blog on American Idol 7

I moved all the posts on American Idol to a new blog I named "Honey AJ's American Idol 7 at http://honey-idolblog.blogspot.com/.

I don't wanna cramp this blog with 2-3 posts of AI7 in a week. So if you're interested in my take on AI7, feel free to visit my new blog.

Very Hot Weather...pray for rain in KL

For those of you who live in KL especially in Cheras area...did you realized that it hasn't been raining for almost 2 weeks? The weather is very hot and humid. Today I wished for rain and when I looked through the window just now, alhamdulillah it is not as hot as previous days but no sign of rain yet...I'm still hopeful.

Poor plants...look what happen to them in the hand of a lazy bum like me huhuhu...

Even Mr. Coco...the "protector" of plants can't do anything to save these greens.

I just made up the protector thingy. It just a decorated coconut shell that my mom designed...but cool eh? And creepy too...believe me.

That's all for now. Tonight I'll blog on today' American Idol male contestants show. I saw few performances from http://www.rickey.org/ but need to watch all performances before I can review. I think I have new favourite now. More about it later.

Man United vs Arsenal (RESULT)

Game FA Cup 5th Round
Date 17/02/2008
Result Man United 4 Arsenal 0
Goals Rooney 16, Fletcher 20 and 74, Nani 38

Man United book a place in quarter final when they beat arsenal this morning. 3 goals during first half was spectacular achievement after a dissapointing performance last weekend. Arsenal may be reserving their energy for champion league's 1st knockout round on Wednesday but United played their best. Arsenal players looked so wasted on the field. Go go go reds!! Marching on with pride and proud.

Next game is going to be the champion league knockout round with Lyon this tuesday.

Man United vs Arsenal (FA Cup)

I am waiting for Man United match against Arsenal at 1am. This is the match I've been waiting for...the fifth round of FA cup. I had plan to watch this match at "mini Old Trafford" Hartamas Square but luck is not on my side tho...my "date" had to leave town today...hmmmm...nevermind...next time la kot.

Anyway...I didn't blog on previous Man United match coz I was bloody frustrated. Like Ferguson, I am still grieving at the 5 point gap in premiership after United lost to Man City last week. I hope they will make up for that humiliating defeat on the same day they were honouring the 50th anniversary of the Munich air crash that killed eight United players on 6 February 1958.

I'm not trying to show-off...just want to tell you how much I love Man United by sharing with you guys some of my MUFC stuffs. In the photo: pennant, 2 caps, 3 mugs, ring files, note book and a wallet(with worn out crest). I couldn't find my box with MUFC pens, key chains and stickers in it. I also got the 1999 Treble Trophies t-shirt (still in wrap). I remember buying a scarf and hand towel but I couldn't find it in any one of the boxes I shipped home from UK.

OK I better get ready to join my dad who has taken over the 3 seater (best seat ever) since 8:30pm and now watching Liverpool vs Barnsley. I'll be taking the floor I guess...

And I just open the fridge and snap tonight's stock...errr...doesn't mean I'm gonna drink all of it...just a tin...or two hehehe *blushing* (did I mentioned about cutting down on caffaine?....gheez...)

So that's all folks! To all Manchunians out there....lets sing GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED and "United Road" all the way. To United team...may they play with their hearts and souls just like my dear King Eric...beat those arse-nal bottoms. Peace...

Back to 80's : TV Series I Grew Up With Part 2

CARTOONS

Thundercats :
"THUNDER..THUNDER...THUNDER CATS!!!" Lion-o, Jaga, Pantro, Tygro, Cheetara (ever heard a sinical song "Cheetara lari laju...tak pakai baju?") and snarf the cowardy cat...he's adorable...

Transformers and Voltron: Defender of the Universe :
I often confused between transformers and Voltron...I thought it was in the same series. I didn't really like this kind of cartoon but back then you watched whatever being shown infront of you...unlike these days with dozens of cartoon shows in different networks.

Care Bears :
They were cuties...living in a Cloudland called Care-alot...jumping up from one cloud to the other...no bumpy rides like the one I had when airplane hit the cloud. My cousin Kak Ija had a collection of Care Bear stickers...dunno where she kept it. Bet it will be very valuable someday...

The Smurf :
Very catchy opening song...I sang along everytime I heard the song...or just la la lala la la. Favourite character - Papa Smurf...

Alvin and the Chipmunks :
I barely understood what those chipmunks said but I enjoyed the show...especially when they sang songs. I thought chipmunks are squirells until I was 15 when I knew that chipmunks actually are rodents not squirells...

Jem the Hologram :
Loved the music loved Jem Loved her friends hated the face paints..

The Woody Woodpecker Show:
You gotta adore this bubbly bird...not in the chirpy way tho...but he was loud...kinda sounds like the extra umph nasally nanny Fran Fine.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe :
I still remember the magic words the prince shouted to get the power of He-Man"By the Power of Grayskull! I have the Power!"

Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats :
My favourite cartoon theme song other than smurfs....
"Heathcliff heathcliff no one should, terrify their neighborhood...but Heathcliff just won't be outdone, playing pranks on everyone"

The list can go on and on and on endlessly so I should call it a quit la to this collection...There's too many to name some more...The Jetson, Flintstones, Dennis the Menace, GI Joe, Shee-ra, Tom and Jerry, Popeye...pheuh...

Parliament Dissolved! Get Ready to "Party"

So...the time has come for all parties to wear their uniforms in clown colours of white, blue, red and green then put up their banners and polish their loud speakers.

Let see if You-know-and-I-know-who can lead Barisan National to a landslide victory this time around. If you would ask me I'd say NO WAY! 90% of parliamentary seats BM owns in 2004 election are now rocking hard. Why? Either because all the seats were made of cheep woods or the seat owners never took his/her fat ass off the chair for the whole 4 years.

I am not being on the opposition side. Infact I don't know where I'm standing because I'm neither here or there. I keep my feet on the ground...unfortunately so is my heart on my nation's political parties. Their motives and motivation are too vague and none has the stand out influential leaders in them. I am wondering what's on Tun Mahathir's mind when he heard the news today.

Whatever happen...let's hope for the best and may this election reflects on the people's choice. Wake our National Front that we, Malaysians need changes and they are holding us back from achieving greater respects we deserve!!

PA alert :
Are you a registered voter? Check your electoral roll here : http://daftarj.spr.gov.my/

PA advice :
Use your voting power for the greater good. I'm quoting Harry Potter for sure...to add a little twist, I sum this up : The pen is like the elder wand, your vote represent the Invisibility Cloak and your voting action activate the Ressurection Stone. Combine the three powers and what you get? The question can only be answered after the election...We either get Dumbledore's Army or Voldermort army or the carca marba Voldore army. We'll have to wait and see...but the most important thing now is VOTE!!! hahahaha...

Back to 80's : TV Series I Grew Up With Part 1

I was reading my old scrap book of my school friends' biodata and testimonies...brought back childhood memories. One of the testimony (from Jijah, a girl who sat behind me in standard 6 class) mentioned about a japanese drama on TV I was so attached to called "Moero Attack". I hardly missed an episode but unfortunately I didn't get to watch the final episode coz I went back to my dad's hometown in Kuala Lipis...no TV...sob sob sob. Anyway I did YouTubed this drama just now but couldn't find the finale. I did however find the opening theme :

Then I got the idea to searched as many old TV series I watched in my childhood years and came out with these videos...Sweet memories...big smiles all the way til now.

1) JAPANESE DRAMA

Miss Comet :
One of the earliest japanese drama on TV1 that I followed :

Oshin :
Offcourse...the infamous Oshin. RTM made the rerun of Oshin twice before NTV7 aired another rerun last year or the year before (not very sure). I couldn't find the opening theme for this drama...but there are many episodes to watched on Youtube. Don't expect to find the malay translated version laa.

Akantare :
Loved the theme song...I could even sing the song back then but can't remember exactly the storyline of this drama. The story evolved around a guy with his textile business if I'm not mistaken. I remember the drama being too slow and dragging...I don't think I watched the final episode.

Space Cop Gaban :
Wakatau wakatau...kenangda...heheheh..GABANN...

Kesatria Baja Hitam/ Mask Rider Black :

ENGLISH DRAMA

V :
V actually stands for Visitors...the alien species with reptilia eyes that wore red/orange outfit and ate rats and mice.

The Man from Atlantis :
Looking back...I am wondering what was so interesting about a half naked guy with hand palms like duck legs who had the ability to breathe underwater and swim in the wide ocean...no idea but this one used to be one of my favourite tv shows.

Supergran :
British children drama of a granny who accidently gained super powers and saved her neighbouthood from stupid villains.

Little House on Prairie :
The girls were cuties especially Melissa Gilbert. I loved the scenery images from the series...imagining myself living in a farm house surrounded by the green prairie. sweeet...

I Dream of Jeannie :
The original Genie in a bottle...long before Christina Agguilera was born. Blury Major Nelson and that funky Jeannie were 2 lovely characters. Rememer how Jeannie folded her arms and blinked her eyes to granted wishes? I tried few times before but nothing happen...did you try that trick too??

Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man :
The classic cyborg superpower human being series with no super AV effects yet believable and entertaining. Back in the 80's, Lindsay Wagner was the prettiest white girl I've ever seen on TV while Lee Majors was one heck of a hunky. Erghhh...I took back the word"hunky" after I watched the 6MDM opening.

That's all for now..more to come on the Cartoon and Chinese dramas.

Yesterday's activity and My sleeping Problem

Too lazy to blog...so I just write a short one..

Went to bowling at UE3, Miharja yesterday. The place looked dodgy...the last time I went there was in 2000. Paid RM20 for 4 games.

After the game, went to Jusco Maluri (where else) and dine at Black Canyon. I bought a new DIY computer desk. I browsed for half an hour just to decide which one from 4 available desks I had to choose but F*ing pissed when the one I wanted was out of stock. Still had to buy the second one I had in mind :(

Then went to the supermarket to buy dad's list of things as he'll be doing the cooking for tonight's dinner.

Managed to get 2 hours sleep coz I spent the whole last night assembling the computer desk (I like doing DIY stuffs....ahaks) and also rearranging my room for a new SOHO look.

That's why I'm too tired to blog...My body need to be tuned back. I am about to get acute sleeping disorder if I don't take action now. Already cut down on caffeine intake and i'm not into any medication and don't want to start now.

Seached the web for articles on sleeping problem and I'd like to share with you theinfo. Check out for yourself if have the symptom:

My Story :Friday Picnic at Congkak

Note : Post updates on 10/2/2008 to add images grabbed from my cousin

My muscles are now in excruciating pains..the after effect of floating in the river the whole day at Congkak. The water was so frigging cold yet refreshing. You wont want to come out of the water once you're in. I got Ira (my cousin's daughter, dunno the title laa...niece/anak saudara kot) to accompany me in the water all day long. She's fun to be with...mainly because both of us love being in the water. I totally forgotten about my camera. I snap few images early in the morning before we started setting up our new spot. Our usual port has been taken up by other camper.

Pidah and her family broght so many food to eat...30 packs of Nasi Lemak, 2 jumbo packs of breads with sardines for sandwiches and a big container full of Drummets. I only brought fish to grilled and plain rice. I asked Pidah to make me cicah kicap (my fave...the best i've ever tasted besides the one at Jalan Bellamy). I started burning the charcoal then grilled 3 cencaru. That's all I remember about the grilling coz I jumped in the water and the rest is history...ahakss.

I resurfaced only when my stomach growling. Dang...picnic by the river really made my hungry almost all the time. Around 3pm we packed our stuffs...cleared our spot and head home. The sleepless night yesterday finally took it tolls on me. I couldn't open my eyes while driving. I remember being in a state of unconcious for few seconds at the traffic light. As soon as I arrived home I barely open my eyes and fell into deep sleep (with my contact lens still intact) and woke up at 10pm.

That's all folks...thank you for reading...bubaisss...

Midnight Cruise....Chow Kit and Steamboat

Left home around 12:30am for midnight cruise around the city with my mom in search for banana...sounds silly eh? Actually Abah wanted banana...Mak wanted to see Chow Kit at night and I craved for steamboat near the MARA building at Jalan TAR. Perfect timing for everybody.
First stop : Chow Kit - Mak bought Banana, Sukun, Mata Kucing, Grapes and juicy bell fruit (Jambu merah macam loceng tu).

Next stop : Jalan TAR - So happy when I saw the steamboat stall still there...yeay! at the same place. But then in front of me...I looked at the construction site of a place where my old college building used to stand...it almost brought tears to my eyes. Almost every night I hung out with my dear friends at a food center called Medan Selera Mara (MSM) situated just next to the steamboat stall...Ahhh....sad...so sad sob sob sob...the place gone too.

So many wonderful memories. Akademi Infotech MARA, an institution where I found my strength, built my confidence, alowed me to explore world beyond my own country and most importantly changed my life path and my personality. It was the place I where I came back to my root...mixing around with malay friends and made few life time friendships along the way.

Next stop : Around Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Conlay to Jalan tun Razak. THen to Jalan Maluri and back in Cheras. Drove around the neighbourhood...at 2am only few houses still bright and noisy but most of the houses were quiet like any other day. No usual CNY sounds of mahjong and drunken groups outside these houses discussing business and stuffs.

Feeling sleepy now...so nite nite or ning ning to you...jo tau...joi geen...

Chinese New Year Lunch

The menu may look like I am celebrating Chinese New Year but my family and I always like to have chinese dishes on the table during Chinese New Year. Just to get into CNY mood and to get our neighbours envious of the smell coming out of our kitchen. Did I mentioned I live in chinese neighbourhood where there's only 2 malay houses around my area?

Unlike the chinese, we're having big lunch not dinner. I did all the cooking today.

Sweet Sour Prawn

It was Abah who supposed to make the sweet sour prawn. I only prepared the ingredients...but he wanted me to cook this time. Haiya...I never cook sweet sour from scratch before. I can cook using the ready-made sauce one but not like this one with gallangal, tomato puree and stuffs. I took the challenge and cooked my first Abah's own sweet sour recipe. The dish is actually like "3 rasa" because he added the chilli paste.

It doesn't taste as good as my dad's but can eat laa...I need to make it more sour coz I put too much honey/sugar in this one. Lesson learnt! And a tip...Mak said that I should add vineger to make it more sour. I thought tomatoes and its puree brought enough soury taste.

Mixed Vegetable with Shitake Mushroom

The mix vege is from my own recipe as it is very simple one...The key to this dish is to be generous on the oyster sauce and the right thickness when using the potato starch. U don't want it to be too mushy or too thick.

Coated Fried Fish

For the fish dish, I just coated the fish (I used Kerapu/Caruppa) with flour + salt + Sesame oil and deep fry until crispy. Garnish with brocolli. I like eating brocolli...the texture and the taste if you eat it on its own...nyummmyyy. By the way, the 2 pieces of bread were used to absorb the excess grease.

Too bad the fish is not fresh anymore (been in the fridge almost a month).

Brocolli Soup

All the above dishes lack gravy. So I had to make a simple black pepper soup with brocolli in case my plate is too dry.

So that's all...I'm getting ready to accompany my mom to Jusco...where else..Maluri lohh. Need to buy BBQ stuffs for our family outing plan at Congkak this friday (InsyaAllah kalau jadi).

Wishing all of you who celebrate Chinese New Year...

"Sun nien fai lok...Gong hay fat choy!!"

Kungfu Dunk!

Just came back from Cineleisure...Pidah won the CinemaOnline screening contest for Kungfu Dunk. I had a great time watching this comedy movie pack with good values and excellent cast line up with many familiar faces. Can't stop laughing towards the end..damn hilarious! Now I can't wait for another movie by Stephen Chow Cj7.

By the way I love the theme song...tofu! tofu! la la la la Kungfu! Kungfu! The lyric is so funny. The actual title is "Zhou Da Xia" or "Hero Chou" composed and sang by the lead actor himself, Jay Chou.

Too tired to blog but I leave you with this music video from the movie. Enjoy!

Today's breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast - Fried Kuey Tiaw

This is my home-made breakfast. I can't really remember the last time I cooked heavy breakfast...I think 2 months ago kot. My mom is on a week leave so I'm a bit rajin la than usual.

By the way, the food presentation was done by my mom. Unlike myself who only like to cook and eat, she is very interested in food decoration. But watch out for that flaming red chile...trillion times hotter than the bird eye chile. I don't think that thingy is suitable to be eaten raw...

Lunch - Steamed Fish and Kangkong Belacan

While me and my mom were busy with the plants outsite the house my dad decided to cooked our lunch. It has been a while since we had lunch together at home..facing each other and passing the dish plates between three of us. Usually I ate infront of my PC.

Anyway...we still need to help Abah preparing all ingredients and cleaning the kitchen afterwards because he only did the cooking part.

I'm thinking of creating another blog concentrating on the food. I never thought of writing post on food cooked at home...but these past few weeks gave me the idea to do so.
We'll see la later if I am not just angan angan tahi ayam.

Knowing your plants

Today is not a typical tuesday for me. Mak is at home taking a week leave...meaning that there'll be some cleaning and outdoor activities to be done. As I suspected, Mak was outside this morning doing some gardening so I helped her...by snapping photos of the plants she tendered hehehe.

Nursing potted plants are actually more tedious than planting direct on the land. There's not much land left when the house area was "cemented" years ago. The only soil left is at the backyard which has been reserved as Pet Cemetary with wild grass and a type of plant we called "Malu kucing". My cats love eating the root of this plant that made them giddy/gedik and "Horny" ahakss. This is how Malu kucing looks like (I forgot to take a shot of its root) :

Checkout some of the potted plants at my house:

Orkid Kuning or Yellow Orchard

Lidah Buaya or Aloe Vera

Dunno the name but Mak called this plant - Pokok Citibank (She plucked from the one at Citibank Jalan ampang)

Dunno the real name so I just call "buluh Jepun" (Japanese bamboo)
Pohon Bertam or I just call "pokok Kelapa bantut"

Assorted mini potted plants

These are the type of plants used in cooking and few tropical fruit trees in miniature scales :

Daun Cekur (Dunno what you called it in english)

Onion (Big yellow/ bombay)
Lengkuas or Gallangal

Limau Purut (Kaffir) - which accidently become a bonsai hehehe

Nenas or Pineapple - I don't think I can ever have the chance to eat its fruit

Lemon Tree - Been around for more than 20 years but never produce a single lemon. Mak said the tree is "mandul"

Durian Belanda or Soursop - about to be transfered to a bigger space.

hat's all for now. I'll be writing another post on the breakfast I prepared and the lunch meals my dad cooked this afternoon.

So til later...have a great day!

Sunday Morning in the Office

Not in my office tho hehehehehe...I'm blogging from my mom's office. While she is doing her stuffs I took the advantage of using the phone, the color printer and the fax machine...clever ehh...?

Nothing to blog yet as it is still very early in the morning. May be going to Jusco again today for a finger licking good time in KFC with mak, Wak Siti (my aunt) and Pidah. Wak Siti just back from a long stay in England for visiting her daughter who is currently doing her PhD so I guess somehow she feels like eating halal KFC. I don't know about her, but I did craved for KFC like crazy after I came home from my studies, merely because I always smell the non-halal KFC everytime I waited for the bus back in Notts.

Well, I'm off to do my work now. Later mater.....

Photo update on 5 February 08:

I want that flat screen!!! 3 working phones on a desk? Kalah telephone operator wo...

An office room with its own pantry...I likeee...That's another box of CNY limau to bring home.
