In conjunction with World Kidney Day held every second Thursday in March since 2006, HKL (Kuala Lumpur General Hostital) is holding talks, exhibitions and health checks today from 9:30am to 5pm. There will be a series of talks. Chef Wan Ismail is also scheduled to conduct a demonstration on healthy cooking in the afternoon. There is also a cooking contest before the demonstration.
What I want to share with you guys is not about my kidney, nor the kidney day at HKL. I planned to write about my day at HKL but unfortunately I didn't join the event...because I couldn't find a parking space at HKL. I want to tell you how pissed I am (still)....and this is my story.
My mother and I were planning to take parts in this kidney event since last week. She already registered both of us for the forum/ talk. This morning I drove to HKL excited to broaden my knowledge and my self awareness on the importance of kidney and deseases prevention through a public forum which was scheduled at 9:30am. We arrived at HKL before 8:30am and looking at main entrance I was surprised that the place not pack with people like any other public events I've been to before.
At first I was glad that HKL is now using a parking system. I thought they managed to overcome the parking problem that haunted visitors who had to drive to HKL. How wrong I was...I saw parking signs everywhere but then...the spaces are for their staffs only. I followed confusing directions on a narrow drive alley where cars were parked both ways, yet no signs of visitors parking area. I went to the back of the hospital where I used to park but it was full. There was once a car park area that now has turn to some construction site. It better be a new parking lots.
My take on this unfortunate event is that HKL still cannot resolve the parking problem even after they introduced a paid parking system. Why can't they just bring down some of the old rundown single storey buildings surrounding the area and build a multi-storey building like PPUM(University Hospital) with organised parking allocation for staffs and visitors.
I never thought that I can't find a single space after circling around buildings few times. My mom and I were beyond frustrated that we then left HKL. We off to Tanglin for breakfast. I was so f-ing mad sampai perut krok krek krok krek.
To be honest with you, the last time I ate the infamous Tanglin Nasi Lemak was in 2001. Back then there was no food court like today....only a stall with folding tables and chairs on a dirt . But as I remembered, the food quality was great and the potion was more generous than what I had this morning. RM4 for a plate of half full nasi lemak with 2 1/2 pieces of sotong and a spoon full of chopped limpa. Aiyah makin untung makin kedekut...but if the taste is good takpa la tapiii *sigh* I officially crossed Tanglin nasi lemak from my list of "where to go for breakfast". They maybe well known and popular judging from the long queues and number of orders they made but sorry to say it just didn't satisfy my tastebud anymore la...
Okay liao...enough for today...enjoy your day! Oh ya...stay away from HKL unless you are using public transport...hahahaha...ciao.
